God’s love
Many people interpret God’s love in different ways. For those who believe in God and follow the teachings of Jesus Christ, love takes on a whole new meaning. The Bible teaches us that God’s love shows that even in the darkest hour, when it may seem like we are on our own, or that we have lost everyone or everything we have ever cared about, He is still there, and we are never alone. He still loves us and calls us His children. God’s enormous and unwavering love isn’t always easy to see or understand. The Bible tells us about God’s love and serves as a constant reminder that He is always watching, ready to help us in any way we need. What the Bible says about God’s love ranges from His wonderful protection of His followers to the promise that His love will never falter or fail, no matter what. So, let us comfort knowing that these Bible verses about God’s love prove He is with us even in the shadow of death. Psalm 23:4 “Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; Thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.”
God is love
1 John 4:7 “Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and everyone that loveth is born of God and knoweth God”. God is the source of our love. Jesus is our example of what it means to love. Everything He did in life and death was supremely loving. No matter how the world changes around us, God is always there, guiding us through His unfailing love and His grace. Isaiah 54:10 “For the mountains shall depart, and the hills be removed; but my kindness shall not depart from thee, neither shall the covenant of my peace be removed, saith the Lord that hath mercy on thee”. What a blessing it is to be considered one of His children, whom He loves the same way any parent loves their child. We will make mistakes, but God will give us grace and forgiveness. 1 John 3:1 “Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew him not”. Ephesians 1:5 “Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ himself, according to the good pleasure of his will”.
Love one another
As believers our self-worth is based on the fact, that God loves us and calls us His children. We are His children now, not just sometime in the distant future. Knowing that we are His children should encourage us to live as His children. Regardless of our relationship with our biological parents, racial culture, and background, we can take comfort in the fact that we are one of God’s children. 1 John 4:7-8 “Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God. He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love”. 1 John 3:23 “And this is his commandment, That we should believe on the name of his Son Jesus Christ, and love one another, as he gave us commandment”. God’s very essence is love; when we love one another, we are fulfilling God’s most fundamental wish for our lives.
Reflection
Real love is an action, not a feeling. It produces selfless and sacrificial giving. The greatest act of love is giving oneself for others. 1 John 3:16 “Hereby perceive we the love of God, because he laid down his life for us: and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren”. John 15:12 “This is my commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you”. Let us love one another as Jesus loves us.
