Pastoral letters are written to the living Church, by Apostles, through the guidance of the Holy Spirit. This has always been the role of Apostles and we note many such letters in the New Testament from Roman to Jude. They can not be read as a normal letter, but are a collection of testimonies and teaching that help guide and strengthen the faith of the believers within the Church. As with the early letters in the Bible, today’s pastoral letters, because inspired by the Holy Spirit, need to be read with a Spiritual mind. Today, these letters are sent by the Apostle Ministry to the ministries responsible for the welfare of souls in the various communities to be used, in conjunction with the Bible, section by section, as the basis of divinely led preaching. In this way the Lord keeps unity of the Spirit within the Church. Read 1 Cor 1:10 and Is 52:8.

The wheel of time rolls around to the commencement of a new ecclesiastical year. We know that we are drawing nearer to the Lord’s return because we can see new green shoots, as Jesus predicted. Matt24:32-33, “Now learn a parable of the fig tree; When his branch is yet tender, and putteth forth leaves, ye know that summer is nigh: So likewise ye, when ye shall see all these things, know that it is near, even at the doors.” We revolve the church year around Jesus Christ because when He is the centre hub of the church, our faith and our life, we know that the Holy Ghost will be present (John15:26). Scripture records the necessity for the Holy Spirit to be present to understand God’s plan. 1Cor12:3, “Wherefore I give you to understand, that no man speaking by the Spirit of God calleth Jesus accursed: and that no man can say that Jesus is the Lord, but by the Holy Ghost.” As He walked with His disciples, Jesus taught them about the First Advent and led them to the requirement for the Second Advent. John16:28-29, “I came forth from the Father, and am come into the world: again, I leave the world, and go to the Father. His disciples said unto him, Lo, now speakest thou plainly, and speakest no proverb.” Even with such direct teaching, Jesus knew that the disciples would not fully comprehend that statement and, in a very short time, they would be scattered. (V32). It is why He needed to give them a foretaste of the Holy Ghost after His resurrection when He breathed on them which enabled them to understand the angel’s promise of the Second Advent. Acts1:10-11, “And while they looked stedfastly toward heaven as he went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel; Which also said, Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? this same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven.” Jesus confirmed this preparation phase for His return when He said, Acts1:8, “But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.” The Apostles had been given the ‘where’ and the ‘how’ of their role in Christ’s ongoing mission, and we begin each church year with a refocus on the ‘why’. The preparation for the Kingdom of God is the purpose of the church. 1Cor15:23-24, “But every man in his own order: Christ the firstfruits; afterward they that are Christ’s at his coming. Then cometh the end, when he shall have delivered up the kingdom to God, even the Father; when he shall have put down all rule and all authority and power.” Many of the signs we see in the modern world are brought about by the adversary. He also is aware of the Lord’s plan to return and is openly working against the Lord. Rev12:17, “And the dragon was wroth with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ.” We should have a healthy reverence of the almighty, victorious God so that fear of what is happening does not overwhelm us. Jesus spoke of the solution to this human fear with His disciples, John16:33, “These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.” Our human nature has an inbuilt fear of the unknown, and the future is unknown to all but the Almighty God. (Isaiah46:10). At the start of this church year it is therefore necessary to establish our response in faith. The Lord taught the original disciples to ‘watch and pray’. He also showed John, Rev14:12, “Here is the patience of the saints: here are they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus.” Patient waiting by keeping faith was also confirmed by James5:7-8, “Be patient therefore, brethren, unto the coming of the Lord. Behold, the husbandman waiteth for the precious fruit of the earth, and hath long patience for it, until he receive the early and latter rain. Be ye also patient; stablish your hearts: for the coming of the Lord draweth nigh.” In these texts we learn that waiting also means continuing to ‘do faith’. James went as far to say that ‘faith without works is dead’. We continue to allow Jesus Christ to overcome the world when we speak and act as He did. Satan has always been against this hope in God. 2Pet3:3-4, “Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts, And saying, Where is the promise of his coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation.” Peter wrote these words over 2000 years ago to warn to the church but he concluded with the solution. 2Pet3:18, “But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and for ever. Amen.” God has always protected those who lived their life according to His command (2Pet2:8). Apostle Paul taught that it is possible to groan within ourselves for the things we see happening (Rom8:23) but to not let them overwhelm us. We should not be distracted from fulfilling what is necessary in the preparation for the Lord’s return. We apporoach that personally, 2Pet3:11, “Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness,” In contrast, Paul asked the church to remain focused on its purpose. Ephes4:13, “Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ:” Jesus has given to each of us a purpose in the building of His spiritual temple where we will be successful ‘in Him’. The words to King Solomon should ring in our ears as we commit to the Lord for another year. 1Chron28:10, “Take heed now; for the LORD hath chosen thee to build an house for the sanctuary: be strong, and do it.” With greetings from Apostle Cliff and myself, your brother and Apostle for Christ, Wayne G Schneider.

700 years B.C. the prophet Isaiah heralded a lasting event that would bring good tidings to the world. Isaiah 40:9 “O Zion, that bringest good tidings, get thee up into the high mountains, O Jerusalem, that bringest good tidings, lift up thy voice with strength; lift it up, be not afraid; say unto the cities of Judah, Behold your God!” We move to the year 4 B.C. near Bethlehem where an angel visited a group of Jewish Shepherds – Luke 2:10-11 “And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.” Over 2,000 years later, we should still with strength, lift up our voices and be not afraid to declare from the mountain top, whether in Queensland, New Zealand, Canada, Philippines, Myanmar, Nepal, Pakistan, India, Kenya, Ukraine or any other country, those good tidings again. Apostle John summed it up – chapter 1:12-13 “But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.” Through this virgin birth, the Son of God was able to take on the flesh of man, without inheriting the original sin and be in a position, to be victorious over Satan, to again reconcile mankind to a loving Father to open the way again to the Kingdom of God and eternal life. The mission of this special child, born in all humbleness in a stable amongst animals, he had helped to create, would also be able to extend the good tidings. Isaiah 62:1 “The spirit of the Lord God is upon me, because the Lord hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek: he hath sent me to bind up the broken-hearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison the them that are bound.” Our Lord has entrusted us all to continue with that mission on declaring the Good Tidings on His behalf. John 17:18 “As thou hast sent me into the world, even so have I also sent them into the world.” Because these good tidings were to be available for the whole world, Jew or Gentile, as promised to Abraham 1900 years before. Genesis 12:3 “And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed.” God now had to alert those of other nations. Having chosen humble Shepherds to be the first Jews to witness this great event, God now chose the wisest in science at that time, the Maggi, who dwelt in the Eastern Countries, to be the first Gentiles to witness and record this event. They by their study, were aware that it had been revealed a new King of the Jews was to be born. It was revealed as promised 1500 years before – Numbers 24:17 “I shall see him, but not now: I shall behold him, but not nigh: there shall come a Star out of Jacob, and a Sceptre shall rise out of Israel and shall smite the corners of Moab, and destroy all the children of Sheth.” Matthew 2 records how the Star led them to Jerusalem where Herod the Roman appointed King, heard of these things and was troubled and all Jerusalem with him. He was told by the Priests – Malachi 2:7 “For the priest’s lips should keep knowledge, and they should seek the law at his mouth: for he is the messenger of the Lord of hosts.” and further – Micah 5:2 “But thou, Bethlehem Ephratah, though thou be little among the thousands of Judah, yet out of thee shall he come forth unto me that is to be ruler in Israel: whose goings forth have been from of old, and from everlasting.” Herod advised this to the wise men, with the request when they located the child they should report back to him. Matthew 2:9 “When they had heard the king, they departed; and lo, the star, which they saw in the east, went before them, till it came and stood over where the young child was.” Verse 11 – “And when they were come into the house, they saw the young child with Mary his mother, and fell down, and worshipped him: and when they had opened their treasures, they presented unto him gifts; gold, and frankincense, and myrrh.” God warned them in a dream, not to return to Herod as his plan was to destroy this new King. Mary and Joseph were advised by God to flee into Egypt to save Jesus and fulfil the prophecy 785 years before. Hosea 11:1 “When Israel was a child, then I loved him, and called my son out of Egypt.” It is recorded how Herod ordered the killing of all children aged two years and under in the area, thinking he would destroy the new King. We see the wisdom of God in moving the wise men to give of their treasures, which could be used to preserve the family while in exile. A far deeper meaning that these gifts were to be passed onto the future Gentile Church by our Lord. The Gold represents a kingdom to be extended. The first step is Baptism, to be redeemed from the original sin. The Frankincense represents the gift of the Holy Ghost, to provide forgiveness for repented sins. Myrrh represents the Holy Communion, that brings about the remission of sins and makes us pure again, preserves our bodies to be able to be resurrected incorruption. 1 Corinthians 15:50 “Now this I say, brethren that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God, neither doth corruption inherit incorruption.” Once again we see “Good Tidings” extended. We meditate on the Love of God and especially our Lord Jesus Christ who allowed Himself to come to a lost world, why? He answered that through King Solomon. Proverbs 8 – gives a full explanation. Verse 31 – “Rejoicing in the habitable parts of his earth: and my delights were with the sons of men.”

As we commence this 40-day remembrance of Christ’s victory over God’s enemies of sin and Satan, and endeavour to emulate this overcoming, we should begin by measuring our enemy and confronting the tactics he uses. The Prince of this World, as the adversary, remains the power behind our struggles. Ephesians 2:2, “Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience:” It was for that reason that Jesus, in the flesh of this world, also had to battle Satan for 40 days and nights to bring in His Kingdom of righteousness on the earth. Hebrews 1:8, “But unto the Son he saith, Thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever: a sceptre of righteousness is the sceptre of thy kingdom.” John 12 :31-32, “Now is the judgment of this world: now shall the prince of this world be cast out. And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me.” As promised, we now have the opportunity to celebrate Christ’s victory again and align ourselves through example to His Kingdom, and continue His victory upon earth. John 12:26, “If any man serve me, let him follow me; and where I am, there shall also my servant be: if any man serve me, him will my Father honour.” This alignment is critical as we enter the fray because, although defeated by Christ, Satan continues to have victories over the weakness of flesh. The capacity to now resist the devil comes from these efforts of the Holy Spirit within us individually, and collectively as the church. If we align ourselves and take within us Christ’s victory, we can then unitedly make the attempt as Christ’s spiritual body on earth to fulfill His words in John 14:30, “Hereafter I will not talk much with you: for the prince of this world cometh, and hath nothing in me.” Satan is mighty, but God is almighty and our thoughts, words and deeds reflect whose side we are on, and how we can be victorious. James 4:7, “Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.” To resist is not just a passive response but an active doing. We are called to resist those things that can come into our life via the world or our own desires in order to fulfill the Lord’s teaching. He also taught of His capacity to cleanse the temple and His desire for His body to bring forth His righteousness when He on the cross said, “I thirst”. The Holy Spirit is already whispering in our heart and mind and we know what we should be leaving alone, doing less of, or what we should start doing to bring forth fruit. The question to contemplate is whether we will choose to resist Satan or resist the Holy Spirit (see Acts 7:51). Each day of our life on this earth is an opportunity to put off the old man of our human nature and choose to put on the new man of the Holy Spirit. 2 Peter 1:4, “Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.” It can be for us a process of spiritual growth where, as a result of removing the dross, Christ’s virtue can be added to our lives. 2Peter 1:8, “For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.” The outcome from our words and deeds follows on from our choice. As we are reminded each year at confirmation, there are always two roads before us where one leads on to destruction, the other to joy and delight. Romans 8:13, “For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live.” Jesus said it this way, John 10:10, “The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.” We may think that we do not steal, destroy or kill but the Holy Bible teaches us examples like; we can destroy relationships through jealousy or rob from God’s free will offering. Jesus also taught that if we are angry with our brother without a cause we are in a similar position as one who kills (see Matthew 5:22). It is, therefore, necessary for us to contemplate our activities in the light of the Holy Spirit. The importance of our choice and effort becomes more clear as we journey closer to the Lord’s return. Apostle Peter showed how we can gain entrance to the Kingdom of God and Apostle John was given the words to show what can block that entrance. Revelations 22:14-15, “Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city. For without are dogs, and sorcerers, and whoremongers, and murderers, and idolaters, and whosoever loveth and maketh a lie.” Knowing the end result of each pathway should motivate us to choose wisely and ask for the strength to commit to the correct course of action. Who is the Lord of our life, God or self? The answer will be heard in our words and seen in our actions. Romans 12:1-2, “I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.” Apostle Paul also provides the advice of how to overcome. Romans 12:21, “Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good.” Praying all will rely on the strength of the Holy Spirit and choose to be part of Christ’s ongoing victory during this Lenten season 2024.

1Corinthians 1:18 “For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God” and Verse 24 “And the wisdom of God.” Jesus declared His mission. Matthew 5:17 “Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfill.” Jesus knew, that man would cut His mission short and He would have to bring it to an end victoriously. Matthew 16:21 “From that time forth began Jesus to shew his disciples, how that he must go unto Jerusalem, and suffer many things of the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and be raised again the third day.” Almost 2,000 years later we stand at the cross and give thanksgiving that God’s wisdom won. We reflect on the fulfillment of the prophecy of John the Baptist – John 1:29 “The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world.” As we read of the events, we can see how the Word of God had to be fulfilled, if a new way was to begin. His triumphant entry where the people declared Him King. His coronation took place at his trial. Matthew 27:29 “And when they had platted a crown of thorns, they put it upon his head, and a reed in his right hand, and they bowed the knee before him, and mocked him, saying, Hail King of the Jews.” The authorities recognized His position, by placing on the cross the words, “THIS IS JESUS THE KING OF THE JEWS”. He set in place the foundation of a new spiritual temple for the future. Psalm 118:22 “The stone which the builders refused is become the head stone of the corner.” He celebrated the Passover, which remembered how God had instructed that the blood of the lamb be placed on the door sides and lintel, forming a cross, and the angel of death could pass over and then the journey of a new way. Our Lord was prepared to become the Pascal Lamb, when He took the bread and wine and declared it to be His body and blood of the New Testament, which was broken and shed for many for the remission of sins. Each time we read the gospels of the events of the mission of Christ, we become more aware of love, victories and lessons for us. In the garden of Gethsemane He highlighted the need for united prayer when we are down – Matthew 26:38 “Then saith he unto them, My soul is exceeding sorrowful, even unto death: tarry ye here and watch with me.” He taught how to pray – Matthew 26:39 “O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me: nevertheless not as I will, but as thou wilt.” He was praying His Father would not leave him, when He took the sins of the world on Himself. When He was taken, after being betrayed, He showed compassion to His captors. He now as a man had to endure all the cruelty and punishment imposed under the law for sin, even though He had no sin. Isaiah 53:5 “But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.” In all of these events, cast into prison, spat upon, struck on face, false witness against Him, bound Him, whipped, scourged, crown of thorns. He remained silent, did not retaliate as He knew an innocent man had to suffer the penalties to allow God to bring the law of penalties to an end. This was confirmed. Mark 15:38 “And the veil of the temple was rent in twain from the top to the bottom.” The final injustice, was when the leaders and people declared – Mark 15:13 “And they cried out again, Crucify him.” He was forced to carry His cross out of the city to Golgotha where His hands and feet were nailed to the cross. John 19:18 “Where they crucified him, and two others with him, on either side one, and Jesus in the midst.” So fulfilled Christs own prophecy – John 3:14-15 “And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up: that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life.” Christ is the new way. He had to now turn the cross into the wisdom of God. His righteousness, now had to be tested to see if it was sufficient to outweigh all the accumulated sins of the world. Matthew 27:45 “Now from the sixth hour there was darkness over all the land unto the ninth hour.” He alone was victorious. Isaiah 53:11 “He shall see of the travail of his soul, and shall be satisfied: by his knowledge shall my righteous servant justify many: for he shall bear their iniquities.” He had to request His Father, to now allow the gentile nations to become part of the new way – Luke 23:34 “Then said Jesus, Father forgive them; for they know not what they do.” If there was to be grace and ongoing forgiveness, a new place of waiting would be needed for souls passed on. Luke 23:43 ”And Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, To day shalt thou be with me in paradise.” Luke 23:46 “And when Jesus had cried with a loud voice, he said, Father, into thy hands I commend my spirit.” This committal continued by the Church has brought peace to many over the years. He told us that the church must be as a loving family to each other as children of God. John 19-27 “Then saith he to the disciple, Behold, thy mother. And from that hour that disciple took her unto his own home.” He told that His labour must continue through the work of the church, supplying Him with the righteousness to allow the final promise of God – John 19:28 “I thirst.” He was able to declare the end of the old order – John 19:30 “It is finished.” Even after His passing He was able to give us the seal of salvation – John 19:34 “But one of the soldiers with a spear pieced his side, and forthwith came thereout blood and water.” The sacraments needed to remit the original sin and the ongoing sins. Our Lord had conquered sin and now had to move to conquer hell and death for mankind. Proverbs 24:3 “Through wisdom is an house builded; and by understanding it is established. (James 3:17)

1 Peter 1:3-4 “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, To an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you.” The resurrection of Christ in bodily form, and what it means for all our futures, should always be a foundation for our life journey, especially when we align it with – 1 Corinthians 15:20-23 “But now is Christ risen from the dead, and become the first fruits of them that slept. For since by man came death, by man came also the resurrection of the dead. For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive. But every man in his own order; Christ the first fruits, afterward they that are Christ’s at his coming.” Every one born, has before them a journey through life; none of us know the places we may move to, either voluntary or as we have seen in the world, forced to. This victory of Christ over hell and death gives to us a security of the end of our earthly journey if we place our faith in Him. No ifs, no doubts, no buts, no change to God’s word. What a blessing! Unfortunately, we see the world, even in Christian nations, how this promise is under attack. We see the growth of Agnostic Groups, who are lost and doubt and are unsure. The next step is the Atheist Groups who declare there is no God, and we now see many groups bringing in unfounded beliefs on life after death. We see the results and consequences in the world, people on their journey but lost. Let us pray during this resurrection festival as it is retold to the world, that all will be touched by the Lord of the Harvest to accept a resurrection of Christ in their hearts of a future resurrection day. Having overcome the enemy of God, that of sin, our Lord had to now proceed to that place of waiting for judgement and use His victory to take control of the second enemy of God, for the benefit of future mankind. The result was foretold – Psalm 16:10 “For thou wilt not leave my soul in hell; neither wilt thou suffer thine Holy One to see corruption.” Our Lord when asked for a sign of these events, referred to Jonah the Prophet – Jonah 2:1-2 “Then Jonah prayed unto the Lord his God out of the fish’s belly. And said, I cried by reason of mine affliction unto the Lord, and he heard me; out of the belly of hell cried I, and thou heardest my voice.” He was victorious and declared it – Revelation 1:18 “I am he that liveth, and was dead: and behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death.” With this festival we give thanks that the final enemy of God, death, was overcome with the body of Christ coming out of the tomb, made whole except for the proofs of His victory – Zechariah 13:6 “And one shall say unto him, What are these wounds in thine hands? Then he shall answer, Those with which I was wounded in the house of my friends.” The angel’s voices spoken on the day of this victory to the women who came to serve the Lord, should still be a constant in the minds of those who continue to serve the Lord. “Why seek ye the living among the dead?” The first great promise the risen Saviour made, still stands as one of our greatest blessings and foundation today, when He promised Mary the sinner – John 20:17 “Jesus saith unto her, Touch me not; for I am not yet ascended to my Father: but go to my brethren, and say unto them, I ascend unto my Father, and your Father, and to my God, and your God.” The link that was broken by Adam, was now restored by Christ and mankind could once again become sons and daughters of God. The means to keep this link open has been put in place, with the promise of the Holy Ghost to be sent to implement the new way. The second recorded blessing that He dispensed, also to the women which represents the church today – Matthew 28-9 “And as they went to tell his disciples, behold Jesus met them saying All Hail and they came and held him by the feet and worshipped him.” In the language of the day, Hail meant, All Health and Joy to You. What a blessing that has fulfilled itself over and over. We read of the confusion of the disciples as they hid behind locked doors, but Jesus came and stood in the midst and gave them the blessing “Peace be Unto You” and this blessing continues today. He then gave them an instruction – John 20-21 “Then said Jesus to them again, Peace be unto you: as my Father hath sent me, even so send I you.” This instruction continues today. They were confused as to how their sins could be forgiven, for they had witnessed the veil in the temple rent and the Holy of Holies of no effect. He told of the new way – John 20-22-23 “And when he had said this, he breathed on them, and saith unto them, Receive ye the Holy Ghost: whose soever sins ye remit they are remitted unto them and whose soever sins ye retain, they are retained.” The Holy Ghost would now be the power over repented sin. As with the first creation – Genesis 1:2 “And the earth was without form, and void: and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.” So the new creation, was also without form and dark, it now needed Christ to breathe life into it. The Apostles could now be guided until they received the fullness of its power on the day of Pentecost. We can read of the event, how Jesus walked and discussed the events, with two disciples, but in all that time they did not recognize Him. It was not until He took bread and blessed it and brake and gave to them, that their eyes were opened. This is the same blessing we partake of today. His mission continued with His Apostles – Acts 1:3 “To whom also he shewed himself alive after his passion by many infallible proofs, being seen of them forty days, and speaking of the things pertaining to the kingdom of God.” As we give thanks for the great love and blessings, let us consider – Psalms 16:11 “Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fullness of joy: at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore.” Wishing all a blessed festival, with greetings from Apostle Wayne & myself, your brother & Apostle for Christ, Cliff Flor.

We come together today and remember a point in history which is not currently widely recognised. Having spent a period of 40 days with His disciples, Jesus was now to be permanently enthroned in heaven as the anointed King of kings. At the beginning of His adult labour, God the Father anointed Him to become the Christ, which included the kingly role. During His trial, and on the cross, He was crowned and declared king in the languages of those present. Luke 23:38, “And a superscription also was written over him in letters of Greek, and Latin, and Hebrew, THIS IS THE KING OF THE JEWS.” During His trial He also confirmed this day where He would both ascend back to His Father as a perfected Son of Man, but also ascend the throne. Luke 22:69, “Hereafter shall the Son of man sit on the right hand of the power of God.” The authority of God was promised from ages past (see Genesis 49:10), confirmed in the era of Grace (see Matthew 28:18) and witnessed by John as the ruling power until His return. Revelations 3:7, “ And to the angel of the church in Philadelphia write; These things saith he that is holy, he that is true, he that hath the key of David, he that openeth, and no man shutteth; and shutteth, and no man openeth;” This message to the church at Philadelphia teaches of His kingly role and the link between that authority and its power to open or close locked access to blessings. Jesus Christ the king, as the victor, was able to take captive those aspects that separated mankind from His Father and open the door to the household of God and salvation. Ephesians 4:8, “Wherefore he saith, When he ascended up on high, he led captivity captive, and gave gifts unto men.” Indeed, He is the door! John 10:9, “ I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture.” Having been victorious over hell, He was given the capacity to open or close access to it as a place of waiting to be judged. Revelations 1:18, “I am he that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death.” The perfected Son of Man was to continue the building of His Kingdom from on high. Psalm 103:19, “The LORD hath prepared his throne in the heavens; and his kingdom ruleth over all.” It is why He transferred some of that authority represented by the keys to those who would minister in His stead upon earth. Matthew 16:19, “And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven”. Because He could not be seen, the eternal Word of God by whom all things were made, would now need to be preached so that the faith required was able to be living; planted as a seed by hearing and nurtured by the Holy Spirit. Romans 10:17, “So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.” For 40 days He taught the Apostles of these keys/words pertaining to the Kingdom of God, but He knew they would also require the power He had previously promised to them for their words to be effective. John 14:25-26, “These things have I spoken unto you, being yet present with you. But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.” He had witnessed in the disciples how the spirit was willing but the flesh was weak (see Matthew 26:41), and so He provided a greater power than the human spirit to assist this labour. Acts 1:8, “But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.” The authority structure for the church was now in place under Grace. Jesus as the head of the church sending out a four-fold ministry with delegated roles to fulfil for the building of the Kingdom on earth, until its completion at His return. Heavenly treasures could be provided through earthen vessels for those who live by faith. The resurrected Jesus lived out a parable for this time of Grace and faith in which we live in the account of ‘doubting Thomas’. The original Apostles were literal witnesses of Christ’s resurrection and were to base their authority on that witness, but Jesus gave a greater strength to those who would follow after. John 20:29, “Jesus saith unto him, Thomas, because thou hast seen me, thou hast believed: blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed.” This spiritual building must continue in all ways even unto the end of the world. It was part of Deacon Stephen’s testimony when he was blessed to see Jesus in His position of authority. Acts 7:55-56, “But he, being full of the Holy Ghost, looked up stedfastly into heaven, and saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing on the right hand of God, 56 And said, Behold, I see the heavens opened, and the Son of man standing on the right hand of God.” As in the days following His ascension, preparations for the welfare of the spiritual temple must continue. Acts 7:49, “Heaven is my throne, and earth is my footstool: what house will ye build me? saith the Lord: or what is the place of my rest?” We look up to remember the Lord’s ascension so that we can look forward to witnessing His return.”

1 Peter 3:22, “Who is gone into heaven, and is on the right hand of God; angels and authorities and powers being made subject unto him.” Having ascended to heaven and the throne, Jesus Christ became both the authority and centre of power during this era of Grace. He took the victory as Son of Man with Him and shared those signs from His body and the spoils of battle to all in the heavenly realm. The Chronicles of the Kings lists the purpose of the treasures in the Davidic Kingdom. 1 Chronicles 26:27, “Out of the spoils won in battles did they dedicate to maintain the house of the LORD.” Now, the one with the authority of the King of Kings was in place to use His treasures and gifts to prepare the spiritual temple on earth. The time of Grace can be one of joy and prosperity for the household of God. Proverbs 29:2, “When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice: but when the wicked beareth rule, the people mourn.” Jesus demonstrated this authority (see Matthew 7:29) and power (see Matthew 21:27) on earth, but in order to fulfill the law and the prophets He did not assume this preeminence until His return to the Father. Colossians 1:18-19, “And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the preeminence. For it pleased the Father that in him should all fulness dwell;” The words we pray daily, for God’s ‘will to be done on earth as it is in heaven’ teaches us the purpose of Christ’s victory and the need for the power of the Holy Ghost for it to begin. The earth is the place where the Kingdom of God must be built so righteousness can replace transgression caused by the Prince of this world. Ephesians 2:1-2, “And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins; Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience:” Jesus had overcome the world and was now to build the Kingdom on earth from His place of authority. He commissioned representatives on earth to bear His authority so He could become the first born of many. 2 Corinthians 5:20, “ Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ’s stead, be ye reconciled to God.” The Book of Acts records how the authority of Christ, working in earthen vessels by the power of the Holy Spirit, continued His victory on earth in the infant church. Acts 3:12, “And when Peter saw it, he answered unto the people, Ye men of Israel, why marvel ye at this? or why look ye so earnestly on us, as though by our own power or holiness we had made this man to walk?” Acts 4:33, “And with great power gave the apostles witness of the resurrection of the Lord Jesus: and great grace was upon them all.” 2 Corinthians 4:7, “But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us.” These examples are recorded to show how the authority and power, when accepted, work together for the Kingdom. Romans 13:1, “Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God.” The power of God was to be sent as a helper in this process, both for the Apostles to teach and lead, and for all to play their part and prepare their soul. Romans 8:26-28, “Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God. And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.” Just as God desired to walk with man in the garden, Jesus desires an ongoing connection or communion with Him. God within us is this communion! The fellowship is highlighted daily as the third part in the Apostle blessing. 2 Corinthians 13:14, “The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Ghost, be with you all. Amen.” We are also to remain joined with each other as one body and with Christ as our head (authority). It is why we also need the anointed High Priest and the process of repentance and forgiveness so that the connection and temple can be maintained. 1 Corinthians 10:16-17, “The cup of blessing which we bless, is it not the communion of the blood of Christ? The bread which we break, is it not the communion of the body of Christ? For we being many are one bread, and one body: for we are all partakers of that one bread.” However, as always, God respects the free will He has given to us and we, therefore, need to choose to play our part for the Holy Spirit to maintain this unity and fellowship. Philippians 2:1-2, “If there be therefore any consolation in Christ, if any comfort of love, if any fellowship of the Spirit, if any bowels and mercies, Fulfil ye my joy, that ye be likeminded, having the same love, being of one accord, of one mind.” Sometimes belonging to a family requires more than just saying we have unity, and often these actions then become more powerful than words. Galatians 6:2, “Bear ye one another’s burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ.” The Holy Spirit is the power by which all can have purpose in communing with and working for the Lord. 1 Corinthians 12:4, “Now there are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit.” As we remember the power of God in His Holy Spirit being sent to this earth let us reflect on its purpose and how we are aiding or hindering this work of Christ. 2 Corinthians 9:15 “Thanks be unto God for his unspeakable gift” The Apostle Paul was referring to the gift of Grace of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. He referred to it as unspeakable, not that we should remain silent, but it would be impossible for us to find enough words in our lifetime to express the magnitude of the benefits of this Grace in our lives. At this festival we gather to give special thanks for the blessings we have received through this Grace in our natural lives, in our spiritual lives and the promises of our future lives beyond the grave. We then remember the obligation to alert others to the many benefits of walking with the source of these benefits – Jesus Christ. 1 Corinthians 1:4/5 “I thank my God always on your behalf, for the Grace of God which is given you by Jesus Christ; That in everything ye are enriched by him, in all utterance and in all knowledge.” We offer our thanksgiving offerings because the Holy Ghost has called us, and our forebears, through Apostles and Ministry chosen to dispense the Lord’s blessings over the many years of the life of the church in this country and through those sent with the message of salvation to other lands over the years. 2 Peter 1:10/11 “Wherefore the rather, brethren give diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall never fall: for so an entrance shall be ministered unto you abundantly into the everlasting kingdom of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.” We live in a troubled world, and it is very easy to allow the cares and burdens to drown our faith in Christ. We must always remember Christ also suffered and will now always be ready to dispense His Grace when needed. We sing the hymn ‘Count Your Blessings’, which is a thanksgiving prayer, and we know thanksgiving opens the door of blessings and through the Grace of Christ we are drawn to His words. Matthew 11:28 “Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” It is only an invitation, we must accept to receive Grace. The Grace of Christ has been the saviour of mankind down through the ages and continues to be the only way we can achieve salvation. Ephesians 2:8 “For by grace are ye saved through faith: and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God.” We read at the time of Noah, how mankind had by his own imagination and thoughts of his heart was only evil continually, that God was forced to say. Genesis 6:7 “And the Lord said, I will destroy man whom I have created from the face of the earth: both man, and beast, and the creeping things and the fouls of the air: for it repenteth me that I have made them.” Had Satan won the battle? No! Verse 8 “But Noah found grace if the eyes of the Lord.” The Son of God, wherein is Grace, entered into Noah, Grace was able to save mankind to be given the further opportunity to be part of the Kingdom of God. James 2:5 “Hearken, my beloved brethren, Hath not God chosen the poor of this world rich in faith, and heirs of the kingdom which he hath promised to them that love him?” We see this saving of mankind as a prophecy for the future, when evil will again fill the earth, God will again be able to see that the prepared church as the mystical body of Christ, will find Grace in the eyes of the Lord and inherit the Kingdom. We read how Noah and family were moved to offer thanks to God, not only for the protection and blessings, but for the gift of Grace that saved mankind. They offered one of every clean beast and bird as a sacrifice. God responded by promising He would never again smite every living thing – and Genesis 8:22 “While the earth remaineth, seedtime and harvest, and cold and heat, and summer and winter, and day and night shall not cease.” He also placed a blessing – Genesis 9:1 “And God blessed Noah and his sons, and said unto them, Be fruitful and multiply, and replenish the earth.” We live in the days of replenishment and God is calling us to work with the Lord of the Harvest (The Holy Ghost), to share in the labour to alert all who have not yet availed themselves of this free gift of Grace that will open the door to the Kingdom of God. This also begins with offering thanksgiving, that we have been called, which triggers that special gift of Grace. John 1:16 “And of his fulness have all we received, and grace for grace.” We are entrusted to distribute this Grace to others. 2 Corinthians 4:15 “For all things are for your sakes, that the abundant grace might through the thanksgiving of many redouned to the glory of God.” We are urged to pray for any mission work, both in our country and overseas as the spirit reveals. All mission work requires workers, seed to plant, travel, tending the harvest etc., which requires special offerings. Our Lord taught – Luke 14:28/29 “For which of you, intending to build a Tower, sitteth not down first, and counteth the cost, whether he have sufficient to finish it? Lest haply, after he hath laid the foundation, and is not able to finish it, all that behold it begin to mock him.” One of the greatest examples of what is required is in the miracle of Jesus feeding the 5,000. Firstly, it required an offering. A young man offered to share by giving 5 barley loaves and 2 small fish. This offering was blessed by the Lord giving thanks. The Lord ordered that all should sit in an orderly manner. His disciples gave all to eat. Those that received the blessing were told by our Lord to take up what remained so it could be passed on to others that were hungry. 12 baskets full were collected, showing the Apostle Office must continue to feed those in the world who are seeking the way. Any offering of time, help in anyway or funds to assist in the mission work, will be blessed by the Lord to feed many. As we reflect on all our blessings from Grace and obligations, we see 500 years B.C. Zechariah 4:7 “Who art thou, O great mountain? Before Zerubbabel thou shalt become a plain: and he shall bring forth the headstone thereof with shoutings crying, Grace, Grace unto it.
