As we all face the worldwide epidemic, most of us stay inside our houses during the day to prevent as much transmission as possible. What does this challenging time mean for us? This one virus seems to dominate all that is happening in the world. A number of things are evolving around us and unsettles us about our lives at present and for the future. Do we stay healthy? How long will this situation continue? How will we survive financially? There is much that we do not understand, but it makes it more imperative to commit ourselves to our Lord who will enable us through His mercy, to rise up and meet the challenges presented to us.
As we give up and sacrifice the things of normal life and our daily habits, does it create an opportunity in our lives for something new? This opportunity for renewal is to consider, reflect and meditate on what is truly important to us. This situation has created again, an opportunity for us to spend more time with our family, renew old contacts and to live, hopefully in harmony and love, with those we share our immediate environment. We have more time to search our hearts, pray and meditate on the teachings of our Lord Jesus Christ. This is the time for inner renewal as we progress through Lent, towards the festival at Easter. However, at this time, we, through love, pray for all people, in all places and in all situations, and especially those that have no one to pray for them.
NOT EVERYTHING HAS BEEN CANCELLED…………..
The sun has not been cancelled
Autumn has not been cancelled
Relationships have not been cancelled
Love has not been cancelled
Giving has not been cancelled
Music has not been cancelled
Imagination has not been cancelled
Friendliness has not been cancelled
Conversation has not been cancelled
Hope has not been cancelled
Prayer has not been cancelled
At this time when everything seems to have been cancelled or on hold, we should know and be comforted by that fact, that the Word of God, His love and His compassion, cannot be cancelled or placed on hold. The Resurrection of Jesus Christ remains immutable. In this time, more than ever, do we need God’s support, love and care. Let us be encouraged by the words of Apostle Paul to Timothy, which reads, “For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.” At this time, let us contemplate, guided by the Holy Spirit, the situation that we are faced with, our lives and that of our fellow beings, against the backdrop of what is important and what is not. God will help us through this time of trials and tribulations, so that we may be at peace at all times. He enfolds us with love, frees us from the spirit of fear and anxiety and gives His spirit of peace in abundance.
In all things, be blessed and comforted without fear in all things, and give thanks to God.
