We see the Pharisees who were in the period of Gods’ dealings where all walked by sight. They had to see to believe. They wanted Him to show where this would happen and then they could take the honour and glory by telling others. They had become high minded and believed it was reserved for them. He then prophesied that it would only come to those that walked by faith in their life. Those who always believed and prepared themselves for this coming from within. Matthew 5:8 “Blessed are the pure in heart for they shall see God.” Matthew 6:21 “For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.”
Their hearts would be reconciled to God, and they were not concerned where or when. Our Lord also taught it would be seen when He comes in glory. All those prepared will see and know.
Mark 9:1 “And he said unto them, verily I say unto you, that there be some of them that stand here, which shall not taste of death, till they have seen the kingdom of God come with power.”
We have to learn the lesson, not to become as the Pharisees, become high minded and believe in ourselves, that we will be the only ones to receive the promised Kingdom. This is not the way to have the Kingdom of God within us. 2 Corinthians 10-12 “For we dare not make ourselves of the number, or compare ourselves with some that commend themselves: but they measuring themselves by themselves, and comparing themselves among themselves, are not wise.” The Apostle Paul taught that we should measure ourselves against the life of Jesus Christ and if we do this sincerely we soon realise the great need of His Grace to keep our hearts pure.
Luke 24: 32 “And they said one to another, Did not our heart burn within us, while he talked with us by the way, and while he opened up the Scriptures.”
Romans 10:9 “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thy heart that God raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.”
1 Corinthians 2:9 “But it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the thing’s which God hath prepared for them that love him.”
