The 50th day after the resurrection of Christ is our Pentecost of the New Testament, we could say the birth of the Church of Christ. It is ever and joyous festival for us. At the same time, we want to search our inner man and ask whether or not this Holy Ghost, which lives within us, has been given sufficient room. Nothing godly within us should in any way be stunted, rather it should grow and ripen so that the fruits of the spirit can be made manifest. Only in this way we can be assured of a truly full life and sublime future.
Faith grows from the word of God, which is activated by the Holy Ghost. The “spirit of faith” then urges us to speak. Of course, this occurs first through the word which the ministry proclaims from the altar. Then, however, this spirit should work through everyone who carries it. What is it that we talk about and whereof do we speak?
If in our private life we no longer speak with each other, then all feeling, affection and love will grow cold. Life then becomes desolate and empty. If in business there is no conversation, the entire operation becomes rigid and heartless. If in our life of faith no further expressions were heard, then our faith would have dimmed to a pale glow or even have been totally extinguished. However, the word of God should never be contradicted; it must be striped up. It should live within us, work within us and produce within as well. Does divine service still move us, satisfy us and inspire us? Does the working of the spirit make us blissful? He who believes, speaks! About what?
He who so does will obtain joy. And joy makes us strong. It permits us to properly esteem the grace. Thereby, the words in Galatians 6: 18 are fulfilled, “The grace of our Lord Jesus be with your spirit.”
