We know that this included the creation of Man and Woman. We know that mankind soon lost the right to be called very good. It was a prophesy then we see that God’s word is sure and true, and in His creative power He was to create a second man, our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ who came into the world and verified God’s word that ‘It is very good,’ and He left for us the means to remain in that light and to remain reconciled with our Creator. We have to avail ourselves of that, for God’s word must always be verified if this creation is to survive.
When we consider the promises that He gave also in Psalm 148, one of the promises that He gave, Verse 14 “ He also exalteth the horn of his people, the praise of all his saints; even of the children of Israel, a people near unto him. Praise ye the Lord.” What does it mean that he also exalteth the horn of the people?
We need to examine in the Jewish days what the horn meant. There are many examples in the Scriptures that God used to show us what this horn means unto us. In the Scriptures these things were done to show that there was strength and honour in the horn. We know of Joshua, how he surrounded the city and had to blow the horn, and the walls of Jericho fell. What strength there is, and what honour he received for being obedient to God. In our lives we are often surrounded by walls, that cramp us in and we feel there is no hope, but God has promised that He will exalt that horn. He will call us. He will allow us to smash those things simply by turning unto Him because He is the Creator and He has created this blessing through His Son our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.
The horn was used when the armies were at sleep in the morning. The horn would blow so that they would rise up ready for battle. When we rise, when we hear that call, we cannot just say we are going to battle: we have to be called into battle, daily battle, battle for the Lord, and this horn will rise us up. Through the power of the Holy Spirit we will be inspired to follow the Lord and become a soldier of His. The horn was used to herald conquest. Whenever a battle was done and finished with, and there was no more fighting, the battle had ended, the horn would sound. The conquest was over, our Lord has won the battle for us. Each time we hear His word it is the horn raising us up telling us His grace is freely available for us. What a wonderful, wonderful call when He returns, when the last trump will sound, the battle will be over, the conquest will be done, not through our efforts, but through the Grace of Christ.
The horn was used as a means to call people to meals from the fields working, the horn would sound and they could then come and be fed and receive sustenance. The horn today: the bell in the church rings, it calls us, it uplifts us, it exalts us, it tells us that a meal is prepared, and we should now come and partake of that meal, for the Lord has promised that He will uphold the horn.
There is also one recording in the Scriptures as a great warning and that is in the Book of Job where Job says that he put his horn down into the dust of the earth, in other words he placed the earth above this call of the Lord. We have to be extremely careful in our life that we do not place the blessings that God can give us through His creative power, through His creation of a second man, through the grace that He calls us, we have to be careful that we do not put this down to the dust of the earth and allow the earth to rise up and become more powerful in our lives than our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, and through Him the Creator of all this. It is so easy to do.
Recently speaking with an officer in a far-off land, he was highly delighted, and he said – I have harvested my first crop. His first crop? Who grew the crop? He realised what he had said. We hear that every day – Come and see my crop; Come and see the cattle that I have bred; Come and see the dress that I have made; Come and see the house that I have built. We cannot create anything that is not already created by God and will be blessed by God. We must never put our horn down into the dust and allow the earth to take over our lives. We must always praise the Lord. These blessings that are granted unto us are for our benefit and it is for us to use them according to how God destines, and He has destined that unto us when He said – It is very good if we walk in the light of Christ. If we use these blessings in that light they will continue to be further blessed, but if we use them in the darkness which means we want to hold them to ourselves, no blessing will come from the Creator in the long term. The Creator is not resting. The Creator is at work still.
The Prophet Isaiah told us a very powerful message that we should be aiming for. Isaiah Chapter 65 verses 17-19 “For, behold, I create new heavens and a new earth: and the former shall not be remembered nor come into mind. But be ye glad and rejoice for ever in that which I create: for, behold, I create Jerusalem a rejoicing, and her people a joy. And I will rejoice in Jerusalem, and joy in my people: and the voice of weeping shall be no more heard in her, nor the voice of crying.” God is creating a new heaven and a new earth, and a new Jerusalem, and this is to be available as we have heard when we are welcomed into this new creation. That should be our goal, and our aim should be to strive to be part of this new Jerusalem which is seen as the bride of Christ coming out of heaven to this new place. Day by day, this should be our objective.
