We are reminded again of the Wonderful Gift we have from God to be part of His Everlasting Promise and the Gift of Salvation. Despite once being far, we are now near through the appearance of Jesus Christ our Lord and Saviour. We have to continuously serve the Lord with joy and singing.
Psalm 100
“Make a joyful noise unto the LORD, all ye lands. Serve the LORD with gladness:
come before HIS presence with singing.
Know ye that the LORD HE is GOD: it is HE that hath made us, and not we ourselves; we are
HIS people, and the sheep of HIS pasture.
Enter into HIS gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless HIS name. For the Lord is good; His mercy is everlasting;
and His truth endureth to all generations.”
Being part of the Perfect and Righteous Lord, we as Apostolic children of God are set free (in Jesus Christ) and therefore escape the thorns, brier (thorny and prickly plants) and dryness of the wilderness and desert. We read that the thorn shall become a Fir Tree and the Brier a Myrtle Tree.
“We focus on the Myrtle, which means Righteousness in Hebrew”
The Myrtle tree has a beautiful spiritual meaning – it symbolises the gift of Renewal and Redemption through our Lord and Saviour Christ Jesus. Isaiah 7:14 “Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.”
The Evergreen Nature of the Myrtle (found in Israel, Upper Galilee, the Jordan valley and Jerusalem), symbolises the Everlasting and Unchanging nature of the Tr-Union God. The Myrtle’s bushy branch structure and thick, shiny, dark-green leaves illustrates the Protection and Safety we have in serving the LORD. The beautiful shape of the tree is naturally well manicured and does not require pruning – and should remain the same until the end.
The Myrtle blossoms with clusters of fragrant white flowers that mature into blue-black berries symbolising the Fruits of Righteousness which are by Jesus Christ.
Myrtle sheds a spicy fragrant oil that contains Healing agents (Gift of Healing by the Spirit) (1 Corinthians 12:9 “To another faith by the same Spirit; to another the gifts of healing by the same Spirit.”) and is still used in perfumes – we have to bring forth a scent that is a Sweet Savour (smell) of Christ (2 Corinthians 2:15). “For we are unto God a sweet savour of Christ, in them that are saved, and in them that perish.”
Finally, through its beautiful fragrance, its preservation characters and endurance the Myrtle is a Symbol of Victory which we obtained through our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. (1 Corinthians 15:57). “But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ”
