This text confirms our belief that the Holy Bible is a gift to us from God in heaven, and as with any precious gift, should be used so as not to offend the gift giver. The Bible itself, testifies of its own creation and what we should use it for.

Isaiah 34:16-17 “Seek ye out of the book of the LORD, and read: no one of these shall fail, none shall want her mate: for my mouth it hath commanded, and his spirit it hath gathered them. And he cast the lot for them, and his hand divided it unto them by line: they shall possess it for ever, from generation to generation shall they dwell therein.”

The question is often asked. “How should I read the Bible?”   Simple answers are:

1. Pray before reading that God’s Spirit will help you understand what you read.
2. Read it in passages, carefully looking for God’s message to you.
3. Pause, and think about what you have read and answer some of these questions,

• (a) What does this passage say about, God the Father, His Son Jesus Christ and the Holy Ghost?
• (b) What does it teach about life? Is there a command to obey, a promise given, or a warning? Is there an example to follow, a temptation to resist and forsake, an error to avoid?
• (c) What can I learn about myself from this passage?

Our Lord taught – Mark 13:10 “And the gospel must first be published among all nations.”

As we learn more of God’s words to us, we will also come to the acknowledgement as in Psalm 119:140 “Thy word is very pure: therefore thy servant loveth it.”
