We realise this was a prophecy pertaining to the coming mission of Jesus, but it also would have impact on those who follow Jesus. This was highlighted in a recent story in a popular magazine.
A famous opera singer was booked to perform at the Sydney Opera House. That night the theatre was packed with people eager to hear her. The house manager went on the stage and announced “I regret that due to illness, our special guest would be unable to perform this evening. However, we have found another singer, with great talent, so please give her a warm welcome.”
The crowd groaned so loudly that no-body even heard the singers name. Great disappointment could be felt. The replacement gave everything she had, but when it was over there was only a brief scattered applause and then silence. Suddenly from the front seat a child stood up, clapped and shouted, “Well done mummy”. The crowd responded, when they saw and heard this, and all stood and gave a standing ovation.
Once in a while we all need to hear somebody say, “Well done!” The apostle Paul wrote in 1 Thessalonians 5:11 “Wherefore comfort yourselves together, and edify one another, even as also ye do.”
Every day God will give us the opportunity to encourage someone. Don’t put it off, say it while they can hear it and enjoy it. Tomorrow may be too late.
Following the recent tragedy in New Zealand, Priest So sent an email to all members reminding of the text 1 Peter 1:22-25 “Our life is like a grass and grass withered away.” He urged all to always take the opportunity to appreciate each other and take a moment to embrace our loved ones, wives, husbands, parents, children, brethren – let them know how much you appreciate and love them.
