We must learn to see life, not as man (from birth until death) but as God sees it (from conception until eternity).
Before Jesus Christ came to start a new way on earth, man had a dismal future because of the downfall of man.
Life began at conception, extended to living in the world for the period God destined, then death happened, and man’s soul had to go to Hell as a place of waiting to be judged at the last day. This judgement would determine eternity for that soul.
Man was captive! But hope came through Jesus Christ’s mission and victory.
“Thou has ascended on high, thou hast led captivity captive: thou hast received gifts for men yea, for the rebellious also that the Lord God might dwell amongst them. Blessed be the Lord who daily loadeth us with benefits, even the God of our salvation.”
Now Hell and Judgement and finally death, were captive to Christ, and a new line of life in God’s sight, came into being for Christian believers.
Conception, life on this earth, death of the body, soul to Paradise, return with Christ and resurrection from the grave, rebirth, kingdom of God and eternity.
Re-entry to Paradise, the Word of God shows clearly, how we obtain a passport for this journey. Luke 23:39-43 the malefactor showed what must be done.
Our Lord then introduced to us, a new place of waiting (Hell was taken captive).
Verse 43— Paradise — He further told in Revelation 2:7, what and why we must first go there — to eat of the tree of life, originally placed in the garden at the creation.
John 19:34 Records – But one of the soldiers with a spear pierced his side, and forthwith came there out blood and water.
The malefactor was still alive, when Christ was speared he received direct from Christ’s body, the double cure for sin that was to be given to all believers.
Water – for the remission of inherited sin of Adam (baptism).
Blood – for the remission of our repented sins in this life (communion).
This then for us, sets the road, but the Holy Spirit sums this all up through the Apostle Paul’s letters to the Ephesians 2:4-8. “But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us, Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;) And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus: That in the ages to come he might shew the exceeding riches of his grace in his kindness toward us through Christ Jesus. For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.”
Our Lord summed it up Matthew 24:35 “Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away”. Mark 13:34; “that heavenly gifts and earthly wisdom will all pass away, but His word would never pass away”.
That is why we do not fear death, but by the Grace of Christ, we can look forward at all times – Matthew 6:33. “But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness, and all these things shall be added unto you.”
